Artist's Statement
"The Artist's Eye, attention to what is seen. It may be true what they say, whether brush in hand or not, I am an artist in how I sense, consider, and perceive. For me, it is always about color, light and texture, I seek it in all aspects of my life. I am awed at the complexities that nature has put forth to engage us."
Background
Beth Drainville found her artistic calling at an early age in the small town in Connecticut where she was raised, surrounded by nature, farmland and open space. Now, as a full time painter and illustrator, she often works "en plein air" or in her home studio in rural Rhode Island. Inspired by the wildlife frequenting her property and by New England coastal scenery, she portrays the essence of her subjects, painting rich oil paintings and captivating watercolor illustrations.
In addition to her own artistic exploration, she finds enrichment and stimulation through artist residencies and grant programs as an arts educator and roster artist for Rhode Island State Council on the Arts.
